Our chair teaches key methods of quantitative empirical social research. Whether you are taking your first steps in the field of data analysis or would like to deepen your knowledge, our bachelor's and master's programs offer you a wide range of opportunities:
- “Introduction to Quantitative Methods” (lecture)
- “Applied Data Analysis” (exercise course)
- Independent work with data and insights into current research (research courses and seminars)

Our courses in the elective modules enable students to engage intensively with current issues and research findings in quantitative social research. Relevant thematic focuses include, for example:
- Discrimination – e.g., in the housing market.
- Sociology of education – who gets which opportunities?
- Sociology of economics – how do social structures influence the economy?
- Social inequality – developments, causes, effects.
